MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc. ("MoneyGram") is committed to respecting and protecting your personal information. We value your trust and want you to understand how we protect, collect, use and disclose your personal information, which is information about you that identifies you or can be used to identify you.
What we collect
The type of personal information we collect depends on the purpose for which it was collected, for example, to process transactions, provide products and services, interact with you, provide you with information about products or services that may be of interest to you, and otherwise administer our business. Personal information includes contact information such as name, address, telephone number or email address, financial information including bank account information, or debit/credit card information, other identifying information such as passport or government identification number, or date of birth, and such other information we may collect with your consent, that you would reasonably expect, or as permitted or required by law.

How we collect it
Generally, personal information is collected from you when you visit our websites (including, and, complete transaction forms, contact MoneyGram call centres, or participate in MoneyGram (or its related company’s) promotions.  Where it would be unreasonable or impracticable to obtain your personal information directly from you, such as where money is being transferred to you, we will seek to obtain it from a third party.

How we use it
We use personal information in a number of ways such as to complete your transaction, administer any problems that may arise in effecting the transaction, to better understand and manage our ongoing relationship with you, to assure good service, to prevent fraud and abuse and other actual and potential prohibited or illegal activities, and for any other purpose that you would reasonably expect, to which you have provided your consent, or as permitted or required by law.

Personal information may also be used for market research and to provide you with information about our products and services (and that of third parties) that we think will be of interest to you.  Where permitted by applicable law, we may merge personal information with public information or other information received from reputable vendors to update contact information or to enhance demographic profiles.

Where we store it
MoneyGram may store personal information on databases in the United States and other countries other than your own.  Personal information may also be stored in the country in which the personal information is collected (for example, if a customer sends money from New Zealand to India, the information pertaining to the sender and receiver may also be stored in New Zealand and India).  For more information on the countries to which we disclose you personal information, please see the "Who we share it with" section below. 
Your personal information may be stored by our related companies and/or our agents.
Who we share it with
We may share your personal information with our related companies and/or agents to assist us in our business activities for the uses described in "How we use it", and for other purposes that you would reasonably expect, to which you have consented, as permitted or required by applicable law. The recipients may be based in countries other than your own.  Disclosures permitted or required by law may include cooperation with criminal or government investigations, fraud prevention and detection, and responses to a court order or subpoena. If you process a transaction on a third-party website or application, information you enter may be shared with the owner of that website or application. In limited situations, our agents and related companies may use information about you to offer products and services to you.
MoneyGram may disclose some or all of the personal information to service providers for the purposes of processing requested transactions or to perform business support functions on our behalf. Our agreements with these service providers contain confidentiality provisions and restrictions on using this information for any other purposes.
If MoneyGram becomes involved in a merger, acquisition or any form of sale of some or all its assets, we may disclose personal information to third parties in connection with the evaluation of the transaction. The surviving company would have access to personal information which would continue to be subject to this Privacy Statement.

MoneyGram will not use or share your personal information in ways incompatible with the ones described above without providing you a choice. To the extent that applicable law requires express consent or “opt-in” for the collection and use of personal information, MoneyGram will maintain processes and procedures to ensure such information is collected with express consent.

You have a choice as to how we communicate with you for marketing purposes. We may use your contact information to tell you about other products and services we think might interest you. If you do not wish to receive marketing communications from us, you may opt out of receiving them by sending an e-mail to, or otherwise contacting on the details provided in "Contacting MoneyGram" below. Please allow at least 4 weeks for processing. In addition each email promotional message we send will also contain instructions on how to unsubscribe.
Accuracy & Access
MoneyGram wants to ensure that the information we obtain and use about you is accurate for its intended purpose and therefore we have processes to help maintain the accuracy of the personal information we collect. You can request access to your personal information or help us maintain accurate records by using one of the methods listed under "Contacting MoneyGram".
We will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access or enabling you to make corrections. MoneyGram will retain personal information only for the time period needed for business purposes or as required by law and will ensure secure destruction thereafter.
Data Security
MoneyGram uses physical, electronic and procedural security measures to protect against loss, misuse, and alteration of personal information under our control.
Access to personal information is restricted to employees and service providers who need to have access to that information as described in this Privacy Statement. Our service providers are required to observe standards for the security, collection, use and sharing of personal information, and to comply with applicable law.
Preventing Identity Theft
MoneyGram is dedicated to protecting your personal information. We will never initiate a request for personal information or request your Money Transfer reference number from you by fax or email. Please do not send confidential personal information such as passport numbers, government identification numbers, or account numbers to MoneyGram via an unsecured email message. You may send personal information to MoneyGram via posted mail or using the "Contact Us" link available on our website.

When you use our websites we automatically collect certain standard technical information. Examples of this standard type of information include the type of Internet browser you use, the files requested and the domain name and country from which you request information. We use this information to improve our website, to make our website function correctly, and to better understand how visitors use our website. As part of our efforts to protect customers from fraud, this information is also used to authenticate users to the website, if necessary.
Some of our web pages may contain "cookies", or data which is sent to your web browser and stored on your computer. "Cookies" allow our server to recognize you as a returning website visitor or MoneyGram customer if you return to the website using the same computer and browser. Cookies also allow MoneyGram to record your browsing history.  You may configure your web browser to not accept cookies or to notify you if a cookie is sent to you.  If you decline cookies you may not be able to use all the functionality of our website.

MoneyGram is not responsible for the content or information practices used by other websites that are linked to or from its websites. In most cases, links are provided as pointers to information on services that may be useful to users. These sites are governed by their own privacy statements and you are encouraged to review their privacy statement before providing them with personal information.
